Alkagesta said it attended the Argus Fertilizer Europe Conference 2026 in Prague on 20–22 October, where discussions covered carbon regulation, fertiliser trade and supply chain risks. The company was represented by its Fertilizer Desk Lead, Vusal Muradov, and Fertilizer Trader, Tural Sabirzade, during the three-day event, according to an announcement on its website.

The gathering brought producers, traders, importers and policymakers together under a theme linking carbon borders with trade. Alkagesta’s account said the opening programme examined the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, EU ETS and tariff changes. Sessions considered what those regulatory developments could mean for fertiliser prices, the movement of supplies between markets and companies’ supply chain planning.

The first day of the main conference turned to Europe’s competitiveness against a backdrop of geopolitical pressures. According to Alkagesta, participants examined how interrupted supplies, volatile energy prices and changes in sourcing were affecting fertiliser markets. Shipping and the ability of supply chains to withstand disruption were also on the agenda, alongside the outlook for natural gas. These subjects formed part of the conference’s examination of the operating conditions facing fertiliser traders.

The second main conference day extended the discussion to speciality and bio-organic fertilisers, as well as end-users’ views on food security and farm economics. Alkagesta said the programme also explored clean ammonia as a possible response to energy-related and geopolitical risks. A closing agricultural market review considered the effects of the Middle East conflict on planting seasons and crop yields, which the company’s account linked to wider energy and commodity supply pressures during 2026.

Alkagesta described its attendance as an opportunity to engage with businesses and policymakers involved in European fertiliser markets and to develop relationships supporting its regional trading activities. The announcement focused on the conference programme and the company’s participation; it did not disclose any transactions, supply agreements or commercial commitments arising from the event.
