Alkagesta said it took part in African Energy Week 2026 in Cape Town, with Rustam Mirzoev representing the company throughout the five-day event. In its account of the conference, the company linked its attendance to opportunities to engage with policymakers, investors and industry leaders involved in the development of Africa’s energy markets.
The company said its existing activities in African energy and commodity markets include supplying petroleum products and fertiliser in both West and East Africa. It presented the conference as an opportunity to strengthen relationships supporting its expanding African operations. The announcement did not detail any new supply contracts, fertiliser volumes or trading routes, and its account focused on participation and the wider conference agenda rather than specific commercial outcomes.
According to Alkagesta, the event convened representatives from government and business alongside international investors. Its coverage extended across upstream, midstream and downstream energy activities, as well as renewables and energy services. Discussions examined Africa’s strategic position amid geopolitical shifts, the investment needs of its energy markets and the challenge of turning proposed projects into delivered infrastructure across electricity, hydrocarbons and renewable energy.
Energy security was among the programme’s principal subjects, together with Africa’s potential to become a strategic centre for growth in hydrocarbons. Alkagesta also identified renewable energy financing, the redevelopment of onshore and brownfield assets, and opportunities in frontier basins as themes addressed during the event. These topics formed part of the conference’s broader consideration of investment and energy development across the continent.
Separate investment sessions focused on Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, the company said. Those discussions explored regional opportunities associated with Africa’s next phase of exploration and production. Alkagesta’s statement described the gathering as a forum for contact with the institutions and businesses shaping those markets, without announcing any country-specific agreements arising from its attendance.
